Scholarships, Fellowships and Support for Developing World ENT surgeons


AAO-HNSF offers a limited number of scholarships to young academics from developing countries (low, middle- and upper-middle income as defined by the World Health Organization) The grant goes toward airfare, hotel, and other expenses. Awardees receive complimentary meeting registration. Email for more information.

Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

  • Rowan Nicks Scholarship Annually to young surgeons from developing countries who have been identified as surgical leaders of the future. Tenable in an institution where recipients will learn the craft of surgery, and also become involved in teaching, research and administration
  • International Travel Grant for Asia Pacific Surgeons To attend the Annual Scientific Congress (ASC) of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and for hospital visits in the host city
  • Surgeons International Award For doctors, nurses or other health professionals from underprivileged backgrounds to undertake short term visits to one or more Australian hospitals to acquire knowledge, skills and contacts needed for promotion of improved health services in recipient’s own country

University of Cape Town Karl Storz Fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgery
Fully funded, 1-year fellowship for qualified ENT surgeons from Africa.

Weary Dunlop Boon Pong Exchange Fellowship Collaboration between Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand. The exchange program provides opportunities for Thai surgeons to undertake surgical training attachments in Australian hospitals, in their nominated field of interest.
